DZOGCHEN RANYAK PATRUL RINPOCHE
has founded the
ZANGDOK PALRI INSTITUTE
as a support for the study and practice of Buddhist philosophy.
Courses at the institute will explore Buddhist wisdom and, especially, the very precious traditon of the Longchen Nyingthik.
These courses will provide us with an extremely rare and important opportunity to study and practice the authentic path of self-liberation under the compassionate gaze and wise counsel of authentic teachers.

The Zangdok Palri Institute will run two courses initially. One will be a non-degree course in general Buddhist studies, and the other a six-year degree course for Dzogchen practitioners. Both courses will be taught at the Annual ZPI, which will be held in Europe during the summer months.
More details on the courses

The Zangdok Palri Institute courses will take place every year during the Summer Gathering.

ZANGDOK PALRI INSTITUTE INAUGURATION (2003)
The Institute was inaugurated in the summer 2003. Patrul Rinpoche has chosen that particular year to inaugurate the institute because it was greatly auspicious: the Tibetan year of the monkey only occurs once in every 12-year cycle. In 2003 was of the wood monkey. It started with Losar, the Tibetan New Year, on 21 February 2004 and came to an end on New Year's Eve, 8 February 2005. It includes three dates which commemorate major events in the life of Guru Rinpoche: his birth in Uddiyana, his arrival in Tibet, and his eventual departure for Zangdok Palri.
It was particularly auspicious for those who made a connection with the institute in the year of the wood monkey, particularly for those who made a commitment to more intensive study and practice through enrolling in the Six-year Dzogchen Practitioners' Course.
