The path on which one reflects on searching for self-liberation

Advice for those who, desiring liberation, reflect on searching for the path of self-liberation – like the thisha, a bird who searches for a safe and secure place when building its nest.

Curriculum:

  • Searching for a path
  • Distinguishing between paths
  • Motivation
  • Refuge
  • Bodhicitta
  • The six transcendent perfections (paramitas)

Initiations:

  • Karling Shitro
  • Dorje Sempa

Oral Transmissions:

  • The Common Outer Preliminary Practices from The Words of My Perfect Teacher
  • Recitation for the Preliminary Practices (the long and short versions)
  • Karling Shitro
  • Dorje Sempa
  • The 37 Practices of a Bodhisattva

Instruction:

The path on which one reflects on searching for self-liberation

Study:

  • Advice for those who, desiring liberation, reflect on searching for the path of self-liberation –
    like the thisha, a bird who searches for a safe and secure place when building its nest.

Practice:

  • 100-syllable mantra: 18,000 times
  • 6-syllable mantra: 103,000 times
  • 10th and 25th day practices without fail

Meditation:

Certain arisal combined with calm abiding (shine) and giving and taking (tonglen)
